Picture a sports coach with ten dashboards: heart rate, sleep, nutrition, blood values, load. Each screen tells a fragment, but no one sees the whole. That is exactly the problem with modern health data: we measure more and more, but we don't always understand better. PULSE is a way of thinking that turns this around. It places the signals not side by side, but in relation to one another — and always asks: what does this mean together, for this person, at this moment?
The idea is not yet another meter, but a translation layer on top of what you already measure. In this way it can become apparent early that someone is becoming over-tired, that recovery is lagging or that the timing is off — before things go wrong. PULSE thus turns figures into language: readable, contextual and useful for better guidance, planning and adjustment. It is a compass, not an oracle.
The science behind
PULSE stands in the tradition of systems biology and integrative physiology: disciplines that see the human body not as a collection of separate organs, but as a network of systems talking to one another. Classical medicine and sports science often measure one parameter at a time; systems thinking holds that the meaning of a signal only arises in relation to the others. A low heart rate variability means something different in a rested person than in a sick one. Integration — reading biology, load, recovery and context together — is therefore not a luxury but a condition for correct interpretation.
Beneath that idea of integration lie well-described concepts. The model of allostatic load (McEwen) describes how the body adapts to pressure via several systems at once, and how accumulating load without recovery eventually becomes visible in diverse markers. The load-recovery balance from exercise physiology works on the same logic: not a single measurement, but the dynamic between stimulus and recovery predicts whether someone progresses or gets stuck. PULSE translates those scientific insights into a readable framework, without lapsing into single-measurement conclusions.
The common thread is co-metabolism: readiness, resilience and recovery arise from the interplay of DNA, microbiome, metabolites and lifestyle together — never from a single layer on its own. That is precisely what makes an integration framework necessary: only when you read the layers together does it become visible why the same load leads to growth in one person and to exhaustion in another. PULSE is, in that sense, a pair of reading glasses on co-metabolism, not a measuring instrument in itself. This reading is supportive and observational — not a medical diagnosis.
